Soul Abyss
There is no map when you descent into the abyss of your own soul.
You travel down, as divers do, into and through the complete and utter blackness of your own psyche.
There is no template. Each trip is unique. And it is not for the faint hearted.
Like deep sea divers, for those committing to their inner work, each trip down brings new discoveries. If you dare look, and hold steady, you’ll see it’s brimming with life.
You’ll encounter dark creatures you’ve never faced before. It’s the most extreme environment you’ll ever be in. But you’ll prepare.
Once you’ve picked up and mastered the right exploration tools, it’s the greatest adventure you’ll ever experience.
After many trips, from skipper, you’ll graduate to Captain. Captain of your own soul.
No external thing, entity nor person will from that point on ever have a hold on you again. You will experience freedom.
There is no light without darkness. We must pass through darkness to reach the light.
“This is what you shall do; Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body.” Walt Whitman
Choosing Your Guide
The greatest gift any mental health worker can give clients experiencing mental or psychic suffering is to have done and continue to do their own inner work.
What is inner work? It is a complete refocus on our own self & inner life. A shift from apportioning fault and blame for our suffering and current circumstances externally – to other things, people or circumstances.
A mental health worker who has done their own inner work is your greatest ally because they will have hopefully opened to learning and worked on most of their own wounds.
They will have an idea about what you might be faced with.
I often use analogies as I find them helpful.
The reason why those operating at “Ground Control” level whether it be Air, space or deep sea travel are engineers & ex-pilots themselves is because they have experienced those harsh environments themselves and had to train beyond what most people learn. That is why they can guide you.
Inner psychological/spiritual work is transformative but it is no joke. Find the right help.
If you are interested in deep and transformative inner work, feel free to connect with me. I have myself gone on that deep soul abyss journey over many decades. It would be my privilege to accompany you. Trauma and wounding need not be a life sentence.
